And the countdown begins… Final presentation date is fixed. All the time and efforts we have put for all these weeks, now it’s time to deliver. Last week, I described some of the important points for planning and managing the project. Along with that, there are some other important elements of project that needs to be taken care of:
1. Initial Client meeting
This is the heart of project. You will discuss and understand you clients business and problem during the first meeting. Go prepared with background research on your client so that you can understand the client’s language and problem better. Ask question to make it as clear as possible so that you have idea about expectations and deliverables.
2. Charter
After understanding business problem, your first step is to work on Charter – which is going to be a guide throughout the project. Take into consideration all the constraints and uncertainties you might face as you have to define each tasks and deliverables with milestones in this project. As earlier student consultants described there is no harm in diverting from Charter, but if you can be precise in start, you will get clear idea about planning and time management.
3. Project Reviews
Along with class sessions, for me project reviews were very important in this project. Both the project reviews served as catalyst for us. When we are on the verge of losing enthusiasm thinking what to do next and how to do that, we have always got better insights and track for moving forward.
4. Research
Whether quantitative or qualitative, primary research is important. It can be with your client only or in B2C or B2B environment. This is the most important and time as well as effort seeking element. Start planning on research in early stage of project only so that you get insights which will be useful for making strategies and recommendations.
All the best to all my fellow students for final report and presentation as well as all future MS Marketing Capstone student for their project!!!
