It’s been 5 weeks already and we seem to be working with the pace required. This week began with a team meeting and discussion of the work done so far. All three of us were amazed at the time it took us to complete the research which we thought would be done earlier. ‘Never assume the work will proceed at the pace you think’. Lesson learnt! We therefore decided not to make assumptions henceforth and factually plan the remaining work. Keeping this in mind, we set a timeline for ourselves and mentioned it in the charter as well for the modules we would be working on ahead. We would be working on different types of analysis and development strategies for our client based on the field book modules.
This week was also crucial as we had our project review meeting 1 with Drew. We were anxious and eager to get reviews on our work. Our efforts so far were at test. We breathed a sigh of relief when Drew said- “You are on the right track”. This approval gave us the required confidence and also proved all the sleepless nights spend on research, to be worthwhile. One thing I learnt after that meeting with Drew and from his suggestions is that-Don’t take things on their face value. Dig deeper. Give what the client asks for surely, but if you can, also give them something which they need even when they have not asked for it. That is where you play a role of a strategist and a consultant.
As of now, we are waiting to hear back from Center for Entrepreneurship and Commercialization at UC to get some guidance for our ongoing research on entrepreneurship programs all over USA. We are waiting for the charter to be signed by the client and meanwhile we would be working on the modules outlined for our client pertaining to their needs. We hope to stick to the decided timeline to finish our work. The immediate next step would be to analyze and categorize the collected data and put it into usable form for our project. Also we would be working strategically as Drew suggested, to be on the same lines even while working separately. We are confident about this and we are hoping to give fruitful results to our client for growth of their business at the end of this capstone.
