Experience Counts!!!

This week was exciting as we got one step closer to our goal. We are in the process of conducting qualitative research for our project and we are going solid with it. My major role was to schedule the phone interviews with all those people who agreed to help us with the project keeping in mind their time availabilities, our time availabilities and differences in the time zones. This is where my experience from my part time job at the University of Cincinnati helped me a lot. Your experiences from your previous work & education play a major role in this Capstone depending on how well you attach their strings to the work to be done in Capstone. This Capstone is not just the culmination of all your knowledge from MS Marketing program but it is a culmination of all the skills you have acquired throughout the years in your professional learning.To share the action learning method I would mention one example from our ongoing research.

What we thought?- We did not really think that we would receive immediate responses from people we were seeking help from as those people are professionals who might have many other things on their priority list other than our research.What happened?-We received more than the expected number of responses at more than expected rate.Why the difference? - We underestimated the cause of our research and the willingness of people to help.What to do about it?-We realized how important our research would be since so many professionals were ready to provide us the required help sparing some time from their busy schedules and we therefore got ready to tap on this opportunity by scheduling back to back interviews as early as we could.

I am working with two amazing team members from whom I learn something new every time we correspond. We are paired up in this project with people belonging to different backgrounds probably with a view that-1) We learn to work with different types of people and 2) We get to learn from their experiences. I am personally learning a lot from both Nick and Jenny throughout the process and I would highly encourage future Capstone students to do the same. There is no harm is accepting that all the team members would not be at same levels of expertise and that we  should learn from everyone who comes along our way during this whole process.
