Over the past couple of weeks Erin and I have charged full speed aheads towards our capstone project and in immersing ourselves into this project. After initially receiving the project brief from our client Stephanni, we were somewhat concerned about the scope of the project and if there were a few things requested that were out of our marketing realm (a predictive model of contaminants in the water, for one). In our initial client meeting, we were met at Greater Cincinnati Water Works by not just Stephanni, but an entire conference room of GCWW staff, including the overall Director of the organization.
What surprised me most about that initial meeting was the passion everyone seemed to have around their "product" and mission. What I first thought might be a somewhat dull topic, ended up really sounding motivating and interesting during that first meeting. This is an organization that provides clean drinking water to the people of Cincinnati, they provide the water to firemen to put out fires and keep people safe, and they provide the water supplies to local hospitals; this is anything but a boring or basic commodity.
Since that initial meeting, my partner Erin and I have met multiple times each week (and talk multiple times every day.) We both are hugely grateful to Drew for pairing us together; from our similar working styles to living close to each other, we were a great match for this project. After initially feeling overwhelmed with the workload, the outline of our charter really helped for us to focus in on what needs to be accomplished each week in order to result in a solid final deliverable within our timeframe.
I'm looking forward to continuing to grow and learn alongside of this Capstone class while incorporating skills from both MS Marketing classes and my professional background.
