Starting the Capstone project and class had me eager and nervous all at the same time. Doing more than hypothetical situations and working on a real life project/problem for a company really started to get my emotions going. Not only having the emotions of ending the MS program, but then being paired with Proctor and Gamble, the world’s largest consumer products company, was extremely appealing to me.
I was a bit skeptical of what the project actually entailed upon receiving a brief from our client, as for it seemed very vague. Things then started to shape up as we had our first meeting with our client at Proctor and Gamble. I didn’t know what to expect, but had imagined a very formal sit down with such a high status company. It was actually the opposite, we met with 5 or so employees from the Bounty and Downy divisions who were very friendly and personable. It really made asking questions and finding out a detailed description of what they wanted from us a lot easier.
Our project lead had mentioned she wanted some SIT and other innovative work done on their Bounty paper towels being sold at Costco. It was a bit difficult to connect because we, as a group, were not sure if she knew what exactly that entailed. But upon our second meeting, and a short SIT class/session with Drew, our groups, and employees from P&G, we all clicked and were on the same page. The given outcome was clear and we were set to get the ball rolling!
I am thoroughly excited to really dig into this project and create great work for our client. I am beyond thrilled with the company and work to be done as well as the people I am working with. Even with just the two meetings, it has been interesting to observe the culture and work with such an influential, structured company like P&G. A professional goal of mine is to work with products, or consumer packaged goods; I feel like this exposure will give me great experience and an inside look to make this attainable.
