The weeks already seem to be going by very fast! It's been challenging trying to juggle class schedules and work schedules between my partner and I, and our client. We are making it work though! Scott and I were able to complete our charter last week and hopefully will have it finalized by our client later this week. Creating the schedule was particularly stressful because I was finally able to realize just how much work we had left to do in a short amount of time.
Currently, we are working on the research component of the project and creating our questionnaire. We ran into a particularly interesting problem before our research even got started when we realized that we would be dealing with language barriers. Almost half of our clients population speaks another language. They have on-staff translators, but obviously we would not be able to utilize these services because they are needed to help patients with their medical services. Another issue we ran into after meeting with our client is that most of their patient population does not have access to internet and therefore we would not be able to reach out to them via an online survey. After talking to Drew about this potential problem, we were able to come up with a number of possible solutions. Scott, was able to find someone who was fluent in Spanish that could help us with translating. We look forward to presenting our ideas to our client later this week.
Last week in our class meeting, we learned about the value mapping exercise and how it could benefit our clients. I thought it was a very useful tool, particularly useful for my client The Healthcare Connection as we help them tackle their branding issue. I'm looking forward to meeting with Drew, Scott, and our client to go through this exercise at a later date.
