Last week after presenting the charter to our client we received some feedback on the technical changes to the product. The product at this phase is going through the final iterations and getting ready for its final appearance. Erik was over all happy with the way things were going so far and the proposed direction for the project. We had our first project review with Professor Boyd and I was worried that we would be told that our project isn’t working as it is supposed to. With Capstone, I have always been worried about what exactly is expected and what is not. Professor Boyd did not give us any negative response to our project progress and that makes me a little relieved. He also offered help to get in touch with more fire fighters so that we have a strong qualitative research.
We have been trying very hard to get in touch with different fire fighters from diverse departments and locations. Ross managed to get an interview later in the week. After going through the interview we realized that there were a lot of similarities and differences within the different departments. Their functioning may differ, but their values and beliefs are the same. Just like Jimmy Adams, Matt also believed on passing on the knowledge he gained on from his experience to the coming generation.
We have been working on the big picture framework and attribute value map for Bailout system. But from the second interview we realized we could would use some principles from Influence strategy for our project. The interview has given us instant ideas as to how we can use the Principle of consensus and authority. It is Monday, the day for our weekly status call with Erik. I am excited to share the influence strategy plan with him. Hope he likes it !
