Week of visits

I feel that this week has been great for the overall project. We have been meeting as a team with the other GE group members and even though each of us is researching a different industry, we still are able to share a lot of new findings and interesting things about the additive manufacturing world. Each of us is doing their own research and we met on Monday last week to go over the schedule and get ourselves organized going forward for the upcoming weeks The meeting was really helpful and I feel like all of us are on the same page in this project. Next week we are meeting with Laurence again and this week we are going to work towards getting ready for this meeting. This week I some of us had our first experience with 3D machines because a few of us went up to Dayton to see how these machines work and the kinds of products that come up from this machines. I must say that this visit was really helpful for us because seeing how these machines work really opened our eyes. Sometimes the project can get a little bit complicated because there are a lot of technical concepts that are hard to understand for someone who doesn’t have an engineering degree so being able to see in person how these machines work really helped to understand many concepts. This week Sarah and I are going to the Toyota Manufacturing plant and we are hopefully going to learn more about the automotive industry. I can’t wait to see what we learn and to ask what they thing about the additive manufacturing potential for the automotive industry and Toyota!
