It is hard to believe that I’m in the final stretch of the MS-Marketing Program at UC. Being a part-time student while working full-time has helped me learn so much about time management and prioritization. I’m very excited to apply all that I’ve learned during my time at UC as well as what I have learned in the workforce.
This semester, I will be working with the Cincinnati Curling Club. I have never curled before, so I’m really excited to learn a new sport! I had a great first meeting with Brody White, who is one of the club board members. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect before the meeting: I have been on client calls where the client knows exactly what they want and your job is to go out and execute it, and others where the client may be more open to exploring what approaches you think are the best fit. During my meeting with Brody, he was very open about the obstacles the club is facing and their goals of growing awareness, game participation and club memberships so they can eventually build their own facility. My client was really looking to me to for expertise on how to tackle these challenges. I’m excited to take on the challenge and help the Cincinnati Curling Club build a marketing strategy that will help them reach their goals.
I think this project will help me both professionally and personally. Currently, I’m working to build a basketball skills and performance training company in Cincinnati, and there are many similarities to what the Cincinnati Curling Club is aiming to do for their club: renting space, growing excitement around the game, retaining and attracting new members, etc. Having similar challenges as the Cincinnati Curling Club will help guide me throughout this project.
Brody and the team invited me to come out and get on the ice with them and learn the game! I can’t wait. Also, the Winter Olympics is coming up next month, so the timing of this project is perfect. I’m looking forward to all the challenges and rewarding experiences this project will bring!
