This week in the life of a MS Marketing Capstone student was all about research and planning. This week Sharlene and I primarily worked on the Charter for our project with the DAAP fashion show. This part of the project is very important because we want to make sure that we have a solid plan for our project. Our project is a little different, because our client needs to have most of the deliverables completed before March 1st. Our client needs these deliverables, so that they can be applied to this year’s show. The fashion show is at the end of the semester, so we really have to hit the ground running with the project.
In terms of business, it’s always important to have a timeline for any project you are working on. Especially since most of us are involved with many different classes and work. It’s important to make sure you are prepared and know exactly what needs to be delivered to the client each week.
In terms of research, I’ve continued to research the DAAP fashion show and I’ve develop some possible social media ideas for the show. I’m eager to brainstorm additional ideas with Sharlene and start to develop an in-depth plan for the show. The fashion show is remarkable, so I’m very excited to potentially grow this event into something even more impressive.
Lastly, in terms of my thought process, I’m finding that there is still tons of gray area in the project. I was expecting to have some, but not this much. I feel as if I’m still flying by the seat of my pants. I’m hoping that once we meet as a class and I meet with my client again that a lot of the uncertainty will go away.
