We are officially two weeks into the semester and the MS Marketing Capstone is proving to be just as challenging, if not more, than previous students have stated. I constantly transition from feeling completely overwhelmed by the workload to bouncing with ideas, and then right back to being overwhelmed.
I got off to a bit of a slow start trying to figure out the full scope of my project, but my initial client meeting was a huge step in the right direction, and helped to clarify a lot of my lingering questions. At this point, I think my biggest challenge has been making the transition from research to actual working ideas. My Capstone is focused on essentially creating a proposal for an institute that highlights the life's work of Robert Cialdini. This is an area of work that I am entirely unfamiliar with, so there has been a lot of research necessary to even know where to start. No two institutes exist, or are created, in the same form, so it's up to me, and ultimately what comes from my research and questionnaire, to decide what form this institute will take. It's a daunting task for one person, but I feel confident in the resources I have available to me that I will be able to end the semester with a well thought out product that has potential to become a reality.
Moving forward, my goal is to transition from this slow start and get ahead of the curve. I need to turn my research into action, and overcome any lingering fears that exist related to this project. Sixteen weeks goes by fast, so it is time to get going. I'm nervous and excited to see what the final result will look like, but I know I will learn a lot from this experience!
