This week has consisted of alot of moving parts to get this project going! Better understanding the landscape at hand and why individuals are donating to alternative organizations is crucial to this project. I have noticed that many of the other organizations such as Talbert and Bethany house provide auxiliary services such as drug prevention and rehabilitation services as opposed to the Shelterhouse which specializes in helping rehabilitate and rehome homeless individuals and exceed at doing it with their gold standard model. Currently, I plan to meet with several nonprofit representatives to ask questions such who is donating to their cause, have they ever shifted their fundraising strategy to react to the times, and what challenges do they experience when fundraising and how have they counteracted those. This information will allow me to understand which individuals are being targeted for donations and if they're are any holes in the market. Additionally, I think it is important to understand the mentality of someone donating to the Shelterhouse cause and if they're has ever been in an instance in where someone was previously hesitant about donating to the Shelterhouse, but a pivotal moment shifted their perception so they ended up donating. I am hoping to establish "moments that matter" and define a persona that the Shelterhouse can target in particular to increase their fundraising efforts.
