Hi everyone!
There hasn’t been much physical progress since the last time I posted on the blog, but in the past week I have been able to develop a much clearer understanding of what is expected of me in the next few weeks. To recap, my project is with 1819 Innovation Hub, and I am working closely with Drew Boyd to determine potential opportunities for 1819 executives David Adams and Myrita Craig. I had a phone call meeting with Drew on Friday to review what all was discussed during the lunch we had with David and Myrita last week, and what the next steps for my project will be.
Over the next three weeks, I will be conducting heavy research on innovation competitors. At first, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was to be comparing, but Drew made a great analogy that cleared up my search criteria. Essentially, I am going to be comparing innovation hubs all around the country as you would stores in a shopping mall. When comparing stores at a mall, you would need to determine physical attributes of the store, such as square footage, features, etc., as well the store missions, products, and product availability. I am going to be looking for the physical attributes of competing innovation hubs, as well as the products or services they offer, what their missions or goals are, companies on site, etc. I am also going to determining how the competitors are positioning themselves and who their target audiences are. I’m really excited to get started on this research so I can prepare for an AVM session Drew and I will be having with the 1819 executives within the next few weeks, and I might even be traveling to some of the cities to check out the innovation hubs in person!
