Hi Guys,
This past week was mainly focused on getting the documentation and admin piece of the engagement done before project work begins. This included working on specific time tables, project requirements as well as finalizing the project charter. A huge take away from this week’s activities is the importance of asking not only the right questions but also enough of the right questions during the initial meetings and correspondence with your client. Essentially, this is what guides and informs all the work that will be done in the project charter. I also realized that going through the information again and organizing it into the different sections of the charter broadened my understanding of the project even further. Understanding the requirements alone was ambiguity at its finest, but I enjoy this aspect of making the project your own and it gets one to be more creative.
For this upcoming week, the goal is to go deeper into client discovery. As mentioned before, my project will be working with Children’s Meeting Place Montessori School to discover (knowing how limited resources are for this privately funded organization) how to maximize each dollar spent, especially for subscription services such as its administrative database management solution, as well as finding new ways to fund raise for capital investments such as improvements to the school building. I will therefore be forwarding a feedback form I have created to my client to be circulated with relevant stakeholders and staff as part of the client/project discovery process. This will assist me in ongoing research into suitable solutions and ideas for CMH
So one word to describe my feelings at this point of the capstone project? Optimistic.
Hope everybody is still hanging in there.
Thembela.
